Holiday Stress

The countdown to Thanksgiving is on.....and I am clearly not ready. As I mentioned before, this will be my first time hosting Thanksgiving at my house and I am simply overwhelmed.  Nobody told me how difficult this would be.  We have relatives coming from out of town and almost all of them will be crashing at our house.  I have no idea where to stash 14 people in our 3 bedroom house.  Also, we don't have enough dishes to serve 18 people....Somewhere in the midst of all this hustle and bustle I have lost the true spirit of the holiday and the reason we celebrate it.  The name itself says it all "Thanksgiving".  It is a time to gather with people that we love and to break bread and Thank God for all the blessings that he has given us. My spirit of gratitude has been sorely lacking and I think it is time for me to refresh my spirit and look at this holiday from a different perspective.  So my house and food will not be Martha Stewart worthy; it doesn't matter.  As long as I have another day to celebrate with my husband and my family, then I will be grateful. So how do the rest of you get through this craziness called "The Holiday Season"?

My card for the day is ironically........
I used my "Martha Stewart" doilies and punch for this one :)

Letter tiles are from "The Girl's Paperie" Pattern paper is from "Melissa Frances"
Flowers are "Prima"

Thanks for stopping by today. I am very much "Grateful" for all of you :)

Elizabeth

  1. Your card is BEAUTIFUL!

Enjoy the holidays! No one will care if your plates don't all match, or if they have to sleep on an air bed. They'll just all love the togetherness. :)

  5. gorgeous and elegant card...a word of advice re: t-day entertaining...relax...the best memories are when something was "not quite but close enough"...delegate and enjoy what and who you are thankful for...the dinner is just a side benefit...

  6. Lovely card Elizabeth! As for Thanksgiving, are your guests coming to judge and criticise you, or to share a joyous occasion with loving kindness? And which is more important, matching plates or a grateful heart?

  7. That is a really gorgeous card! If you are using real plates, you are ahead of a lot of people with big families. Hardly anyone has that many dishes that match. The Dollar Store is wonderful for filling in the gaps on dishes. Everyone will have a good time. Take a few breaks for yourself next week.

  14. Gorgeous card! Enjoy the holiday with your family...stuffing 14 people in a 3 bedroom house just adds to the fun and the great memories you will create! You have the true spirit of the holiday and that is why Martha Stewart should be envious of you! :) It's always challenging to get through a family gathering like that, hang in there!

  17. Beautiful card! You always notice the little things when you are the hostess. Most people are thankful to get together and are not that picky. Take a deep breath and take it one thing at a time!
