Happy Birthday Dad

Here is a card that I made for my dad because his birthday is today.  I hope you have a fantastic birthday dad. My dad is a very hardworking man. At one time, he was working three jobs to support my family and to send my brother and I to a private school so we could have a better education and a better chance in life. When I need him, he is there and has been very supportive of me during my husband's battle with liver cancer.  My dad and my mom both drove 7 hours just to be there for my husband's chemo appointment so I wouldn't be alone in the waiting room.  Thanks you dad for all you have done for me. I wish you the best birthday ever and more to come.

Fall Time

Fall time is my most favorite season of the year for many reasons.  The first one being, that it is the time of year that I married my wonderful husband. Secondly it is the time of year that the temperature begins to cool down and people begin to wear cozy sweaters and drink cider.  It kicks off the beginning of the holiday season and it feels as if there is magic in the air.....I love fall (sigh..)

My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary by going out to the apple orchards to pick fresh apples.  The day was crisp and clear and the leaves were beginning to change from green to a beautiful golden color.  I had my pumpkin spice latte in hand and was ready for fall festivities.  It was a perfect fall day.... I will never forget it.

Now for my crafty share today......

Loved this spooky owl image mixed with "My Mind's Eye" paper and frame from "Little Yellow Bicycle" This one is already up in my Etsy shop. Thanks for dropping by today, I hope you all have a beautiful day.

Haunted

Hi Everyone,
I am up today with a quick post filled with more (you guessed it) Halloween Cards!  I am definitely on a Halloween kick lately.  It might have something to do with the fact that I bought a complete Halloween paper crafting kit from one of my favorite companies "My Mind's Eye" it is called "Haunted" and I love it! I want to use up every inch of it. For those of you who haven't seen it, all of the papers are printed on kraft paper and have some sort of flocking details to them.  The papers are so elegant and spooky at the same time. So please be patient with me as I post a lot of Halloween themed cards for the time being. I am just having so much fun using up my paper.

Here is one of my cards that I created with this line........
And here is the second......

Thanks for visiting my blog today

Vintage Halloween Card

Hi Everyone,
I am finally sitting down to write this blog post.  My morning routine has been crazy around here.  We started a new juicing routine, which takes up literally my whole morning to clean the vegetable and fruit to juice. We just bought the Breville juicer and I love it but clean up is really yucky. Anyways, I have a new card to share today that I will be posting in my Etsy shop later on today.  It is a vintage style card for Halloween.

I just love the little image of the cat shown here and the scary Jack-o-lanterns. I love fall and all the beautiful colors and images that remind me of this time. I used some older "Jenni Bowlin" Products on this one and papers from the "My Mind's Eye" "Haunted" Collection.  The flower is from "Prima".  Thanks for taking a peek at my blog today. I wish you all a very happy week.

More Halloween Goodies

Hi Everyone,
I am here today with a yummy cookie recipe and a cute way to dress up some plain glassine bags for Halloween.  My husband and I have been on a strict diet lately due to some health issues we have encountered this summer. I've been having a craving for some delicious peanut butter cookies for a while now so I scoured the internet and found this recipe from the food blog "Smitten Kitchen".  I thought I would give it a try and they were Fantastic. Here is the recipe for any of you who might want to give it a try and I do suggest you give them a try.

         Peanut Butter Cookies

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup peanut butter at room temperature (smooth is what we used, but I am pretty sure they use chunky at the bakery)
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 large egg, at room temperature
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup peanut butter chips
1/2 cup chocolate chips
For sprinkling: 1 tablespoon sugar, regular or superfine
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine the flour, the baking soda, the baking powder, and the salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat the butter and the peanut butter together until fluffy. Add the sugars and beat until smooth. Add the egg and mix well. Add the milk and the vanilla extract. Add the flour mixture and beat thoroughly. Stir in the peanut butter and chocolate chips. Place sprinkling sugar — the remaining tablespoon — on a plate. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls into the sugar, then onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving several inches between for expansion. Using a fork, lightly indent with a crisss-cross pattern (I used the back of a small offset spatula to keep it smooth on top), but do not overly flatten cookies. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Do not overbake. Cookies may appear to be underdone, but they are not.
Cool the cookies on the sheets for 1 minute, then remove to a rack to cool completely.

Once I finished baking the cookies and letting them cool. I decided to dress them up for Halloween.  I placed the cookies inside a plain glassine bag.  Next, I made tags using the new digital doodles stamp set called " Happy Howl-loween".

I attached the tags to the bags using black ribbon and sewed on some buttons to make it more fancy and there you have it a perfect gift to give away to a friend for Halloween.

This will be my last post for "Digital Doodles"  My 6 month term was up and I decided to not continue because of the holiday season and also because of the health issues in my family that I have been dealing with.  My husband was diagnosed this summer with Liver Cancer and just finished his first round of chemo.  All of my energy right now will be focused on helping him overcome this nasty disease. I will still be creating cards for my Etsy shop and posting my crafts on this blog for those of you who read my blog. I am very sad to no longer be with Digital Doodles and I will miss Kathy and all the wonderful ladies that I got to know during my design team term.

Thanks for dropping by today

Spooky Treat Bags

Hi Everyone,
Its time to announce another set of "Digital Doodles" stamps today. This set is called "Happy Howl-loween".  I was so excited when Kathy gave us this set to work with. I was in the mood to create some "Spooky" goodies for Halloween.  This set is incredibly adorable. It comes with three sentiments and and 4  "spooky" images.

I decided to make little "haunted"house treat bags for my project. I used the "Boo" sentiment and the ghost and pumpkin image from the stamp set. I used the "inch bag" from the"Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More" cartridge to cut out the bags on my Cricut machine. (You could just as easily use a brown paper bag, if you don't have that particular cartridge)

I used my martha stewart lacy punch to create the roof. I distressed it all with some beige acrylic paint. If you would like to purchase this stamp set go HERE. Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you all have a fabulous week.
Love
Elizabeth
